- Ecuadorian shield
This is me. This shield is the most representable SYMBOL in Ecuador . Firts the color have it own meaning. Yellow all teh richteness of the country, blue our oceans rivers lagoons and sky and finally the red represent the blood of the people which fought to get our liberty.Inside the shield there is aso the Cotopaxi Volcano which is the biggest one of Ecuador and finally the condor which is a bird that represents liberty and power.Its interesting that every element have it own meaning and all of them together represents and idea in this case what Ecuador is .
- Indigenas dancing
These are Indigenas a group of people that reprecent our ethnicity .They have their own clothes laguaje and customs which represnts FOLKWAYS a group of habits or customs that are common in a given culture. Even though not every Ecuadorian acts like this now a days , this is what our forefathers used to do and this is why it is embraced until now.
- Colorados (Ethnian Group )
The colorados are na etnian group that represents a COUNTERCULTURE in Ecuador This is a subculture that champions values lifestyle distinctly opposed to those of the dominant coulture. This is a small society in my country that have a very diffrenet life style, they speak a different laguaje clothes and have very rare costums like painting their hair red as you can see in the picture .
- Hats Production
This hats are only produced by indigenas and their own raw material. Eventhough they have big demands of product they always use their hands as machines.This is a perfect exmaple of a CULTURAL OBJECT a physical item that is created by and associated with people who share a culture
- My first time in NY
This a personal picture ME and my friend 2 years ago when I arrived to New York City . I foudn out so interesting and amazinf all those graffitis in those old beautifull buildings . I trully had a CULTURAL SHOCK because I felt the experience of being disoriented because of mylack of knowledge in a unfamiliar society.
- Eating in the table with all the family .
This picture reminded me to my family . For us is essencial to have at least a meal together even if there is difficulties with our schedules. My parenths always teach me that family is the most important thing in everyones life.Having a family dinner represents IDEAL CULTURE which is what members of the culture should do becuase of our beliefs and norms. Since I lived in the United States and all my family in Ecuador I can not have a family dinner even if I believe that this is the right thing to do.
- Amazon tribe
This is an Ecuadorian Subculture. They are very popular in since they are very different from the rest of populations this is why this subculture suffers from Etnocentrism which is the practice od judging another culture by the standards of one's own .This tribe is usually naked and have a very complicated laguaje. I have to admit that we usually judge them because they dont follow our usual standars even if they are Ecuadorians I will fell very strange sharing with them. Dont you ? It will be very hard to focus if someone is not wearing clothes.
- Christenig Meeting
This is a picture of my family and ME , we are celebrating the chritening of the little man sitting in the chair which is wearing white.This is an example of regular NORMS that we apply in a christering meeting . First the honoree (the baby) have to wear white because it represents pureness . In this meeting an appropiete behaivor will be for the guest to wear formal clothes and have a lunch. Usually we give the baby a gift that will be about God or Virgin Mary. Its not a request to do all this things but it represent appropiete behaivor.
- Day of the dead celebration
This celebration is only if one day but anyway it is very important and essencial in our culture . This tradition started and still takes place because of Ecudaoriand BELIEFS which are specific convictions or opinions that people generally accept as being true. In this celebration we take food to cementeries and eat there so we can enjoy one more day with our beloved ones, it is like believing that they rise once every year .We know the dead appreciete it and that whenever we die our family will be doing this for us as well.
- Alcohol ban every Sunday
Alcohol is ban very Sunday ,this is a law that recently was applied . This is a perfect example of what MORES, which are norms that are strictly enforced, with potentially severe penalties for violating them. The penalty for this is at least 3 days of jail even if your are drinking it or not , only buying alcohol is wrong during Sunday. I have to say that I really do not like this law but I must follow it otherwise I will go to jail.
